Who are we?

Dovy, a half-Lithuanian who was born and raised in Alaska and speaks Japanese (a little) married Natalie, a half-Greek who was born and raised in the Air Force and speaks Italian (enough to get in trouble). Dovy is a full-stack web developer and Natalie is a mama and at-home cake designer. They were married in 2007 and have five little balls of energy: Anjali, obsessed with Darth Vader, is all red with energy we wish we could bottle; Elia, the little princess in the family, is sweetness without measure and loves to be the mother hen to her siblings; then there's Link, who is almost always happy and has a rather deep love affair with all things Star Wars and any type of moving vehicle; twins graced the family's presence next with Calvin, who is equally sweet and mischievous, commonly called "Gumby" (he's a bendy little chap) or "The Surgeon," due to his attention to fine detail; Graham is his partner-in-crime who is an amazing medical miracle with a happy-go-lucky personality and a smile constantly playing at the corners of his chubby cheeks. The furry friend in the family is a miniature Dachshund named Daisy. We are an American family.

Lost a Tooth

Lost a Tooth

No, I didn’t.  Anjali did!  Awesome, eh?  We helped pull it out with the ole’ string-and-the-door method.  It was literally hanging by a thread and she just wanted to get it over with.  The Tooth Fairy visited our home for the first time and left a glittery dollar for her.  She has been so excited […]

‘Tis the Season – To Be Crazy!

‘Tis the Season – To Be Crazy!

We have been biz-ay!  Christmas treats, cake practicing, two dance performances for the girls, singing at and practicing for the Ward Christmas party, music and dance practice and physical therapy have all been on the list.  I am going back to PT to get my knee and hips worked on.  So, in between everything else, […]

Thanksgiving and Beyond

Thanksgiving and Beyond

By now you should know that if I haven’t updated the blog, it’s because I’m so busy I can’t see straight. :)  It’s good to be busy, though, and I’d rather be that than bored.  So, here we are.  Another month has passed and we’ve been involved in lots of good (and not-so-good) causes. And […]

Unicorns and Rainbows

Unicorns and Rainbows

I feel like our weeks just keep getting more and more jumbled, crazy, and intense.  We still had our foreign exchange student with us, but I started feeling like crap last weekend.  I kept gargling Listerine (an old choir trade secret) and putting on a good face during the day so we could keep on […]

Konnichiwa

Konnichiwa

I’m catching up.  Again.  I am so busy, I just can’t keep up with anything these days.  Sorry. So, the second-to-last week in October (woah, I just typed August, are we seriously in a time warp or what?)  ended up being quite the adventure.  We had signed up to be a host family for a […]

The Famous Frog

The Famous Frog

Let me go back a year and a half or so.  One day,  I found Anjali in her room during Quiet Time with an empty terrarium.  There was one lonely frog left in their room, and it was missing.  Turns out, she said she took it out to play with it and it went missing. […]

Lincoln’s Second Birthday

Lincoln’s Second Birthday

I’m a little late on last week’s post, but here it is.  Link turned two!  I can’t believe my baby is two.  We went together and found a birthday toy together and he helped me bake his birthday cake.  He is such a happy, easygoing little guy.  He finds great joy in helping me around the […]

Scootin’ Through the Week

Scootin’ Through the Week

The last two weeks… It is always a whirlwind.  I am always tired.  I am always incredibly busy.  I am always stretched very thin, emotionally and physically.  Being a mother is hard.  And I love it! My parents came last week because my dad was asked to chaperone a group of students during a career […]

Smooshed

Smooshed

Today, at church, one of the primary leaders had to run and get me from Young Women.  She said that Anjali had smashed her finger in a folding chair.  I’ve never quite heard Anjali scream for as long as she did, or as loud.  It took us almost two hours to calm her down, poor […]

Purple Shake

Purple Shake

Woah.  One second while I gather my brains and figure out what I’ve done with my life this week. … There.  Now I’ve got it.  No, wait… maybe not.  There was just so much, it’s hard to pinpoint everything!  We are now in the full swing of the school year.  Both girls started dance (Elli […]
