Who are we?

Dovy, a half-Lithuanian who was born and raised in Alaska and speaks Japanese (a little) married Natalie, a half-Greek who was born and raised in the Air Force and speaks Italian (enough to get in trouble). Dovy is a full-stack web developer and Natalie is a mama and at-home cake designer. They were married in 2007 and have five little balls of energy: Anjali, obsessed with Darth Vader, is all red with energy we wish we could bottle; Elia, the little princess in the family, is sweetness without measure and loves to be the mother hen to her siblings; then there's Link, who is almost always happy and has a rather deep love affair with all things Star Wars and any type of moving vehicle; twins graced the family's presence next with Calvin, who is equally sweet and mischievous, commonly called "Gumby" (he's a bendy little chap) or "The Surgeon," due to his attention to fine detail; Graham is his partner-in-crime who is an amazing medical miracle with a happy-go-lucky personality and a smile constantly playing at the corners of his chubby cheeks. The furry friend in the family is a miniature Dachshund named Daisy. We are an American family.

2,015 Blessings

2,015 Blessings

The year is in full force!  If you are getting to this blog for the first time because you received our “after-Christmas card,” welcome!  I used to update weekly, but as a busy mother of five with a side business, I get to it about once a month now.  Enjoy years of posts or just […]

Christmas and Beyond

Christmas and Beyond

This was definitely our busiest December yet.  We closed on both houses (officially) on the 4th of December.  We had hoped for the 2nd, and we did go in and sign, but our buyers were delayed and nothing was final until the 4th.  I began packing like crazy.  I had already done a lot of […]

Thanksgiving in Denver

Thanksgiving in Denver

We were crazy and drove out to Denver for Thanksgiving again this year.  It was so fun to be all together!  I’m really proud of us for making the drive.  It was no easy feat: the highway closed due to some bad accidents, we took a massive, on-the-side-of-the-icy-mountain detour, hit major snowfall after that, and […]

So, I found this file of pictures…

So, I found this file of pictures…

Oops.  Guess I prepared all these pics and never posted them.  I went to open up a new folder to post a new slew of pics and saw that these were still sitting there.  In case you didn’t know, life got crazier since I posted last. So, in September, I did a wedding cake for […]

The Hospital: Our Second Home

The Hospital: Our Second Home

We’ve never been under such duress and made it through so smoothly despite everything.  The prayers that have been said for us have literally carried us up and over the last few months of craziness.  Here’s the rest of the story, leaving off from the last post.  (*NOTE* This post is about 16 pages, single-spaced, […]

Squish

Squish

Again, we ride the insane wave. Dovy and I were talking earlier this week.  We both knew that having twins would be super hard.  We were both willing to ride it out and do our best.  We both agree that having twins isn’t supposed to be THIS hard.  Boo.  We’re ready to have the regular […]

On Angels’ Wings

On Angels’ Wings

To say that we have been through a whirlwind is an incredible understatement.  I will go ahead and give the story from this week and go back and finish last week’s… eventually. We were seeing great results with both twins and were hopeful that they could be home within the next four days or so. […]

200th Post – TWINS

200th Post – TWINS

I haven’t had time to do anything but the captions, but I know you’re all chomping at the bit – so enjoy and come back and read my story when I have time to journal it!   We’re still in the NICU.  I am boarding here for now.  Babies are starting to eat on their […]

Waiting and Wishing

Waiting and Wishing

I have never been more done with anything in my life.  I am so ready to evict these little creatures in my body and hold them in my arms, instead.  I can’t wait to smell their baby smell and hold them close.  I can’t wait to see how they interact with each other and who […]

Stopped

Stopped

Fourth of July!  Our great friends, the Burtons, own the insurance company at the end of the street.  Every Fourth we get together in front of their business and Chris serves up pancakes and later, hot dogs.  We enjoy our meals and watch the parade.  This year, I sat in a chair the whole time […]
