Come and Gone

Come and Gone

Another month come and gone.  I went to Girls’ Camp, made two different cake orders, scheduled my surgery, and kept the kids occupied.  It’s been busy, as any summer with so many little ones would be, I suppose.  We’re doing well and loving our time together. The kids are crazy-good at riding their bikes and scooters and spend every day doing it.  I had another Brevitas engagement this week and spent every night rehearsing and driving up to Salt Lake somewhere between 2.5 and 6 hours every night.  It was so wonderful to sing again and quite a bit emotional, too.  The surgery is a risk (although not high) to my voice, and regardless of any complications, it will take time to get back in singing shape.  There are many unknowns and I kind of look at this last week as my last “hurrah” in case anything strange happens.  We recorded our new album, “Silence & Music,” and I can’t wait to hear everything when it comes together.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Fourth of July!  We hung out with the Burtons in the morning and the evening, watching the parade, eating food, and resting up in the afternoon.  The twins stayed awake through the entire fireworks show, past 11PM!  Both watched intently and loved it.  Uncle Michael and his friend joined us, as did Kindra and James, who are sadly moving within a month.  We are going to miss them dearly.  (Kindra is one of my dearest friends from college; she moved away for grad school, met her husband, and they went abroad for a while.  They returned three years ago so James could go to Law School and we are going to miss them so much!)

The rest of the summer promises to be busy, as well!
