Pie Palooza

Pie Palooza

Well, we did it! And came out alive, too. We had a grand turn-out for our Housewarming Party on Tuesday. The pie total: 20. Pies left over after the event: 3.5. Here is a list for anyone interested in recipes:

Tart Cherry
Sunday’s Apple
Rhubarb Sour Cream
Lemon Meringue
Death by Chocolate
Coconut Cream
Chocolate Peanut Butter
Chocolate Layer
Cream Cheese Pie (“White Pie”)
Banana Cream
Key Lime
“Mormon Grasshopper”

“Mormon Grasshopper” was the most popular and Coconut Cream was a close second along with the Rhubarb Sour Cream (believe it or not). Right behind that was Grandma’s “White Pie” and the Chocolate Peanut Butter. Thank you to all of you who have helped with ideas, recipes, and my know-how! It was so much fun, and I’m really glad that we’ll only be doing it once a year… haha. Thanks to all who came! We had so much fun visiting with each of you.

Hmm, let’s see. Other things this week. Potty-training. Anjali keeps on going in spurts. (I know, she’ll do it when she’s ready, but I’m just giving you an update, since I know you really care.) She does well on some days and bad on others. Never constant. Which is fine. And tiring. We actually just put her in little undies and waited for her to feel uncomfortable when she wet them. Nuh-uh. She didn’t even notice when she did. Poo… I mean, pee.

On the day of Pie Palooza, Elli woke up with a chesty cough. We were concerned that it had developed so quickly so Dovy rushed her to the doc just to make sure we were okay for the party. The doc said to keep watching her. She did decline in health quickly over the next day and so I had to take her to the hospital to get her little nose suctioned out on two different occasions. Poor baby. You haven’t seen anything so pitiful as my little 5-month old. She lost her voice and could hardly cry in discomfort. She is on the mend, though: her cough is subsiding and the sinus drainage has decreased. Hopefully some more sleep for me. I’ve had crazy sinuses for two weeks now and have only gotten better as of late. I was doing better for the party but declined again after that – probably from all the adrenaline.

Dovy is busy working. I am busy being Mom. Life is good. We love our babies, our house protects us, and we have so many people that love us. What more could we ask for?

Another example depicting Anjali’s sense of fashion.

The Cream Pies

The most popular – basically chocolate and mint.

The prize for “Most Unique Visitor” goes to Jeff and family.
He was a missionary in my area when I was a teenager living in Italy!

She should start her own fashion line.

And the Mad Scientist places Mr. “Dee-doe-hed’s” tongue in his ear.

Like I said – Fashion Queen. This is actually a true-blue trend right now.
She’s definitely on the up and up.

I spit bubbles in your general direction.
Love me.

First bath together ever!
(Although Elli stayed in her little tub to prevent any accidents.)

Bedtime in matching pajamas.
Yes, I know they are boy pajamas.
Did I have any other choice?

Daddy trying out Anjali’s little fashion trends.
Nice try, Dad.

You think I’m amused by this, don’t you?
