Christmas is a very important holiday to both Dovy and me. We decided our first year of marriage (especially since we were to have our first baby that year, too!) that we would always have Christmas day in our own home as a family. We’ve been so grateful for the experiences that we’ve had and couldn’t be more grateful that this year, we were able to celebrate Christmas in our very own home with our two very special daughters (and puppy.) :) I had dreamed about Christmas in this home for 9 months – since the very first day that I saw it! – and was so glad that we finally fulfilled the vision.
We woke up and opened our stockings (Anjali got Nerds and Lifesaver gummies – the latter was devoured before the rest of the presents were opened!) Breakfast has been a constant question for us… we love big Christmas breakfasts, but have never been able to decide exactly what to have. I think this year we finally got the right combination: Grandma’s Cinnamon Rolls, Sausage Quiche (thanks, Jaci!), German Pancakes, and Fruit Pizza. We were so stuffed that we barely had room for our Christmas dinner (also a debate for the past three years, but finally a winner combo: Cranberry Christmas Roast, Green Bean Casserole (thanks, Aunt Nancy!), Holiday Sweet Potatoes (thanks to Aunt Viki!) garlic bread, Martinelli’s, and pumpkin rolls (thanks… Libby.)
We had a progressive Christmas this year which consisted of Anjali ripping the wrapping paper off of a present, playing with it for any length of time, getting bored, and proceeding to the next gift. We burned all of our wrapping paper in our fireplace this year. Can’t say the same for the now dismantled tree – which fell out of the garbage can when the trash guys came around – didn’t bother to pick it back up, oh no, of course not.
Here are a few glimpses into our day:
